Body Image and Healthy Diet

This cover and image in Vogue Italy were shot using plus size models. What do you think about that? Personally, I think it is great! I am not a twenty something and I am not the size of Kate Moss. I am a forty something and I am a size 6. Healthy and happy with my size, finally. The ironic thing is that recently I came across a photo of me in a bikini 13 years ago and I remember thinking then that I needed to lose weight, I weighed less then than I do now.

I think there is way, to much emphasis put on weight. I read yesterday where there are clinics that treat anorexia and they have patients as young as...5! Yes, 5! That is shocking, what are we teaching these kids? We need to teach our children, especially our girls that being healthy is the most important thing, we need to lead by example and steer them in the right direction. I guess that means even though we may want to have pizza, hamburgers, macaroni and cheese, grilled cheese and hot chocolate on a rotating basis we need to incorporate more fruits and vegetables and more balanced meals into our plans. Now, this does not mean we cut out the other stuff, there is nothing bad, there are just things that are better choices and the other items we eat only occasionally.

As for regular sized women in magazines...I say bring it on. What is wrong with featuring women of all sizes? Guess what, the last time I looked women came in every size!

  1. Elizabeth, I love the message this sends and hope that our children will hear the reason in this. Thank you for visiting my blog and I am glad that you like Paris as much as I do!

  2. And these pictured women are amazing. I am a plus size and fight shame about that. It is sad, the definition of beauty -- being stick thin. Healthy is what is IN! Thanks for sharing.
